This first work by author Quinn Chase-Salerno begins on an ambitious note, with elements borrowed from Homer's Illiad. Unfortunately, it is brought low by its
utter lack of characterization and murky, turgid plotline.

The kitty's motivations are never fully explored, and the puppies' and turtle's actions seem random. The work's sole attempt at symbolism - the flashlight introduced near the work's midpoint - feel somehow hollow and underdeveloped.

Ultimately unsatisfying, by the works' denouement we discover that the brother was acting independently, but
so many questions are unresolved as to undermine the works' essential themes.

Still, the work feels authentic to the author's experience, and we eagerly await further work as she hones her craft.

This is the worst idea ever.

If the kid decides to pull the trigger, then it works.

If the kid watches any TV they know how to rack the slide....chances are good they'll do that first anyway.

This will sell great.. to people too lazy to properly store their guns.

Well, Claire, what I'm talking about has nothing to do with intelligence. It has to do with stress and reaction in a less than ideal situation. Waking up a 2am while your door is being battered down, for example.
I've never disputed the fact that your product works. I'm quite sure it functions perfectly as designed. I'm also not looking for free product from you. If you want me to evaluate and write about it here, I'd be happy to do so and then return them to you. If not, that's fine too. As you say, you don't need my approval.
